Counting Down to H&M Opening

A very much anticipated shop is counting down for the opening of its flagship store in the Philippines.

There are brands that many are anticipating to shop in. And then there is an H&M store that is about to open in the Philippines. It is observable that the H&M items has been a craze among ukay-ukay shoppers. And it seemed to be one of the most popular brands nowadays together with Zara and UNIQLO. I know they must be a craze among our masa (masses) because of their lower prices that are comparable to our home-grown brands. And because of our mentality, imported sells.

When I was walking around SM Megamall, I could not help it but to see an LED billboard standing in front of the mall. It was so announcing it works for its purpose of getting your attention. In the billboard is a countdown timer for the grand opening of the brand's first shop in the country.

RED CARPET. The shop is, as I counted, a 3 level shop with the staircase in front.

But I could not help but remember when this Swedish grown brand created a stir in New York City a few years back in 2010. Several news sites ran stories about a garbage dump of unworn clothing that has been slashed with blades prior to their disposal as the the poor and homeless are freezing in the cold winter sleep nearby. According to the news, as they checked out the sacks of garments, several items have been slashed to be unusable but still carry the labels DIVIDED, one of the lines of H&M. These were said to be items unsold at Walmart but were slashed before disposal rather than being sent to charity.

But I guess these issues has already been resolved and I hope that H&M have already made a move against these practices.

As of now, I am more keen of the underwear line especially with one of my celebrity crushes being the brand's ambassador.  Some bulge-day everyone!
